The race: Another rainy day of racing. The racing was hard and aggressive, which can been seen clearly in the finishing times with small groups and individuals spaced out. Also, there was a large number of DNFs.
Though there were several breaks during the course of the race, none succeeded. It was in the final lap, and indeed, in the final ascent of the last hill that the race was decided.
Austria's Felix Gall dropped the hammer and looked to be gone. Clement Betouigt-Suire and Rasmus Pedersen gave chase and looked to be catching the speedy, but now slowing and tiring Austrian, but Gall won with a few inches to spare.
